Powering Life With Fuel-Free Technology
GoSun is a young company comprised of designers, engineers, and change-makers, intent on serving the world with unparalleled green cooking solutions. We are passionate about our products and how they power our customers’ lives. Founded in a small suburban garage, we grew quickly thanks to our community of committed customers, who not only believe in our products, but also use them to bring people together.
At GoSun, we are big believers in nourishing the good things in life and helping others do the same.
After a long morning disassembling a solar water heating device, GoSun founder and solar energy expert, Patrick Sherwin, realized that the vacuum tubes sitting next to him might be able to reheat his lunch. When the food came out hot and roasted, it was an epiphany. Having lived extensively off the grid and working on solar energy projects around the world, he knew that he was on to something.
While volunteering with non-profits in Haiti and Latin America, Patrick experienced first-hand the vulnerability of energy poverty. Touched by the resilience and happiness of those living on just $2.00/day, he spent years facilitating technology, energy and social innovations in the developing world. These efforts, including many failures to introduce typical solar ovens, led to the realization that his solar hot dog cooker invention could be something more, serving a great need in emerging markets.

Many organizations are striving to create fewer emissions or less pollution in their products. Many are striving to do better. GoSun believes that there are way too many things in the world these days that really don’t contribute to society or help alleviate the major environmental problems that are threatening the world that we all live in.
So why a solar cooker?
1) It can help people cook without any fossil fuels, charcoal, or wood.
According to the United Nations, one of the largest problems facing the world today is clean cooking. Every day 3 Billion people (40% of the Earth’s population) are still cooking on open fires that consume forests and waste money.
2) Solar cooking produces NO harmful smoke or emissions.
The World Health Organization estimates that 4 million people die prematurely as a result of illness attributable to household air pollution from cooking with solid fuels.
3) GoSun helps prevent CO2 and global warming.
In Paul Hawken’s latest book “Drawdown”, he outlines how getting people off of open cookstoves in developing countries is one of the best things we can do to help slow down global warming. Indeed, solar cookers if used daily can save two metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year per household!
4) Designed to Work.
Using the best solar cooking design amplifies all the above benefits, which is why the GoSun line of products incorporates clever design to provide the most versatile and useful solar ovens.
PLANT MORE TREES
Data also shows that one of the best things we can to help the planet and to help combat climate change is to plant more trees. Why? According to CarbonFootprint.com, a tree can offset 48 pounds of CO2 per year, or 2,000 pounds (one ton) of CO2 during a tree’s life. To these efforts with our partnership with Trees For the Future, GoSun has helped plant over 20,000 trees to date.
Good Global Citizen.
Although GoSun is still a small entrepreneurial business, we believe we should all do what we can, when we can. Since our inception, we have worked with dozens of nonprofit organizations to provide discounted solar cookers to those that need them most. In 2017, GoSun has provided funding to support the efforts of The Houston Food Bank, Global Giving, and Operation BBQ Relief. We are committed to doing more and welcome your input about how we can accomplish this. Please get in touch with us and let us know your ideas and projects.
GoSun - Use More Sun!
In 2014, we received a grant from the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves for our pilot program in Guatemala. Although we have now shipped our products to over 60 countries, we are seeking partners throughout the world to locally assemble and distribute our breakthrough solar technologies all over the world.
GoSun's patented technology allows anyone to bake or cook anything, using just the sun even in the clouds and freezing cold. GoSun is driven to provide more consumer friendly solar solutions to the people who need them most.
